Privacy policy

Find Research collects as little as it can to run the connector, count your plan limits and keep the service working.

Last updated October 19, 2026

Summary

  • We know your email address, how many searches and PDF lookups you used this month, and which apps you connected.
  • We do not see your conversations with Claude or ChatGPT. We receive only the tool calls the assistant sends, such as a search query.
  • We never send your search text to our analytics. Search queries go to the scholarly databases without your identity.
  • We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
  • You can delete your account and data by emailing support@findresearch.site.

We do not ask for your name or documents, and we never see your card details. If you buy a paid plan, Polar processes the payment as our reseller (merchant of record): it collects your payment and billing details under its own privacy policy and tells us your plan, its status and renewal date, linked to your account ID.

Your searches

When your assistant calls a Find Research tool, our server receives the tool’s inputs: for a search, the query text and filters; for a lookup, a paper identifier. We use them only to answer that request.

  • To answer, our server sends the query or identifier to OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, Crossref, arXiv and Unpaywall. These requests come from our server and do not include your email or account ID.
  • Search results are cached for up to 24 hours so that repeated searches are fast and we stay within the databases’ rate limits. A cache entry is stored under a hash of the search parameters and holds the parameters and the results. It is not linked to your account.
  • We do not keep a history of what you searched for.

Your conversations are governed by your assistant provider’s privacy policy: Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT. The assistant decides what it sends to the connector; we receive only the tool calls.

Analytics

We use PostHog, hosted in the United States, to measure how the product is used.

  • Connector events record which tool was called, whether it worked, how long it took, how many results came back, which filters were used and the length of the query in characters and words. They never contain the query text, paper identifiers or tool results.
  • Account events such as sign-up, sign-in, connecting an app and reaching a limit are linked to your account ID. Your email is attached to your analytics profile so we can answer support requests.
  • Website analytics record page views on findresearch.site. PostHog sets a first-party cookie and local storage entry to tell visits apart. We do not use session recording, advertising pixels or cross-site tracking.

If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, you have the right to know, access, correct and delete your personal information and to not be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have similar rights under the GDPR; we process your data to provide the service you asked for and, for analytics, on our legitimate interest in improving it.
