Terms of service

By creating an account or using the Find Research connector, you agree to these terms.

Last updated October 19, 2026

The service

Find Research (“we”, “the service”) is a connector that lets AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT search public scholarly databases, look up papers, find legal open-access copies and format citations. The website at findresearch.site is where you sign in, see your usage and read these documents.

AI assistants are third-party products. Their providers’ terms apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for what an assistant writes, including how it summarizes or cites a paper.

Your account

You need an account with a valid email address to use the connector. Keep access to that email secure: anyone who can open your sign-in links can use your account. You are responsible for activity under your account, including activity by apps you connect to it. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live.

Acceptable use

Please do not:

  • use the service to build a copy of the underlying databases, or resell or redistribute its results in bulk;
  • get around plan limits or take repeated trials, for example with multiple accounts or automated sign-ups;
  • overload, probe or interfere with the service or the databases it uses;
  • use it for anything unlawful, or to infringe others’ rights.

The scholarly databases we use have their own terms. Using Find Research does not give you rights to their data beyond what those terms allow.

Plans and limits

Every plan includes a monthly number of searches and open-access PDF lookups, shown in the plans section and on your account page. Limits reset on the first day of each month (UTC).

Paid plans are sold by Polar Software, Inc. (“Polar”), our reseller and merchant of record, which charges your card, collects sales tax or VAT and issues invoices. Polar’s terms of sale apply to the purchase. New accounts can take one free trial of 3 days with a reduced allowance. A card is required; it is charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. Subscriptions renew automatically every month, or every 13 months on the long plan (12 months paid, 1 free), until you cancel. You can cancel anytime under Manage subscription on your account page; your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Upgrades apply immediately. If something went wrong with a charge, write to us and we will work it out with you, including a refund where appropriate.

We may change prices for future billing periods. We will email subscribers at least 14 days before a new price applies to them.

Papers and sources

Paper metadata, abstracts and summaries come from OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, Crossref, arXiv and Unpaywall, and belong to their authors, publishers or those services. We show them to help you find and cite research. Full texts are opened at their source; we link only to copies that are legally free to read and never use shadow libraries.

The Find Research name, logo, website and software are ours. Feedback you send us may be used to improve the service without obligation to you.

Disclaimers

Find Research helps you locate research; it does not check whether a paper is correct. Results depend on upstream databases, which can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Nothing the service returns is medical, legal or financial advice.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted availability. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before it, or US$50 if you paid nothing. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Ending the service

You can stop at any time: disconnect the connector and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service at risk, and we may change or discontinue the service; if we discontinue it, we will give reasonable notice where we can.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new date, and email account holders about significant changes before they take effect. Using the service after that means you accept the updated terms. Questions: support@findresearch.site.
